GTI Progeo 838 is the successor to the 825 series. Just as its predecessor, it uses CCD cameras and liquid transducers in the measurement. This makes it possible to achieve measurement results that are accurate and precise. The machine uses four measuring units; the measurement itself can reference:
GTI Progeo is available in two versions:
Standard - this version is powered with cables and also communicates with the central unit through cables;
Radio - this version is powered with batteries and uses wireless communication between the measuring units and the central unit.
Progeo 838's main features:
Thanks to the implementation of cameras, Progeo 838's measurement results are accurate and precise. The device can be used to align passenger cars as well as lcv's whose Gross Vehicle Mass does not exceed 3,5 ton. The software included allows the technician to quickly measure the following parameters:
Progeo 838 uses specialist electronic sensor for the measurements: 8 CCD cameras for the horizontal angles and inclinometers for the vertical angles. The measured values are displayed directly on the LCD monitor. The wheel-clamp assembly run-out compensation, which makes it possible to eliminate inaccuracies resulting from deformed rims or improper clamp fixing, can be done in four ways:
The software included guides the technician through the measurement in a step-by-step fashion, making the process as easy and hassle-free as possible.
The Rear Axle page is, in fact, composed of two pages. The first of these pages shows the values of six angles at a time. Each field includes a graphic representation of a given angle and its value: either in green (if the value falls within the tolerance limits), or in red (if it is outside the tolerance limits). Altogether, on both pages we have the following angles: rear camber, rear half-toes, rear total toe, thrust angle, rear axle offset and track difference.
On the other hand, the two pages that compose the Front Axle screen display the values of: caster, front camber, front half-toes, front total toe, front axle offset.
Progeo 838 measures the following angles:
Measured parameter | Measuring range |
front half-toes | ± 12° |
front total toe | ± 24° |
rear half-toes | ± 12° |
rear total toe | ± 24° |
front camber | ± 10° |
rear camber | ± 10° |
caster | ± 30° |
king-pin inclination | ± 30° |
axle offset | ± 99 mm |
track difference | ± 24° |
toe out on turns at 20° steering lock | ± 24° |
lock angles | ± 60° |
front/rear offset | ± 22° |
wheelbase difference | ±99 mm |
Measured parameter | Measuring accuracy |
front half-toes | ± 2' |
rear half-toes | ± 2' |
front camber | ± 4' |
rear camber | ± 4' |
caster | ± 5' |
king-pin inclination | ± 5' |
axle offset | ± 2' |
toe out on turns at 20° steering lock | ± 2' |
lock angles | ± 30' |
front/rear offset | ± 2' |
wheelbase difference | ± 2 mm |
track difference | ± 5' |
The electronic sensors used have measuring accuracy of 1', however, we cannot forget that ultimately, the correctness of the measurement lies also in the proper test-stand preparation as well as a careful approach to the measurement itself.
Measuring resolutinon is the same for all parameters: 1'; 0,01° or 0,1 mm - depending on the chosen scale.

Every measurement result can be printed out in as many copies as you wish.
The measurement report can be printed in three ways:
The print-out offers a chance to confront the measured data with the angle values recommended by the manufacturer of the vehicle. Those angles that differ from the manufacturer's recommendation are displayed in red.
Measurement precision should be checked once a month. However, in case the measuring unit is dropped or hit, the measurement precision should be checked immediately.
